You Don’t Need Snow to Enjoy Fat-Tire Bikinghttp://www.flagstaffnordiccenter.com/you-dont-need-snow-to-enjoy-fat-tire-biking/ http://www.flagstaffnordiccenter.com/you-dont-need-snow-to-enjoy-fat-tire-biking/#respond Mon, 16 Feb 2015 21:22:02 +0000 http://www.flagstaffnordiccenter.com/?p=2474 Bob Young on a fat tire bike (Photo: Michael Chow/The Republic)

Arizona Republic reporter, Bob Young, wanted to do some fat-tire biking in the snow in Northern Arizona. Unfortunately the 80 degree temps in the Valley also meant it was too warm for snow in the high country. But he soon learned that not having snow did not mean that fat tire bikes weren’t a blast to ride!

He set up camp in the Coyote Yurt and commenced exploring the trails of the Flagstaff Nordic Center – from the easier stretches along the Abineau and Coyote Trails to the more challenging Peak-A-View with its amazing view.

Read Bob’s article on his adventure and watch a video on Arizona Republic’s website: Fat-tire mountain biking at Flagstaff Nordic Center.

Dogs are welcome at the Nordic Centerhttp://www.flagstaffnordiccenter.com/dogs-are-welcome-at-the-nordic-center/ http://www.flagstaffnordiccenter.com/dogs-are-welcome-at-the-nordic-center/#respond Fri, 12 Dec 2014 21:06:32 +0000 http://www.flagstaffnordiccenter.com/?p=2275 Read more]]]> Smiley in the snow

Updated Info - While we’ve always been dog-friendly here at the Flagstaff Nordic Center, we wanted to make it clear to all of our customers that their hounds are welcome (almost) everywhere.  All of our multi-use snow sport trails, our snowplay area, and our yurts/cabins are open to canine companions.  We do ask that dogs stay out of the main lodge and ski yurt as much as possible, as we have many people, including plentiful children, in these small spaces, as well as an occasional lodge dog and loads of expensive equipment and gear.

About the only place that dogs are banned are on the trails designated as “skiing only”.  It’s really important to us to keep these trails in top shape, and we spend a lot of time, energy, and money grooming and maintaining these trails for our skiing customers.  With all of our dog trails and multi-use trails, however, you should be able to find plenty of open trail to exhaust both you and your dog.

Questions or comments?  Give us a ring or email, and we’ll get back to you ASAP.  Happy trails…
